Lately, we’ve been talking a lot lately about wall ovens, from our favorite featured wall ovens to choosing the perfect wall oven for you. Whether you’re upgrading your existing oven or remodeling to make room for a different style of oven, now is definitely the time to start planning and making decisions before the Holidays come. When it comes to choosing the right oven, a lot of people wonder which is better: a wall oven or a range oven? The answer isn’t a simple one since each appliance has its own advantages, and which one is right for you will depend on your cooking style, your kitchen layout, and the size of your kitchen. Here we discuss the differences between each appliance to help you determine which one is best for you. Space First, consider the size and layout of your kitchen. A kitchen with a single or double wall oven will also need a cooktop surface which means you will have two different areas dedicated to your kitchen. Separating the oven from the cooktop does allow you the flexibility to place the cooktop somewhere in the kitchen where it can face guests so you can entertain while you cook. However, while some kitchens are large enough to offer this much valuable real estate, others may be too small to give up the cabinet or countertop space. Combining the oven and cooktop with a range gives you more square footage that can be put towards a bigger island or valuable wall storage. Capacity How you use your oven will obviously affect whether a wall oven or a range is best for your kitchen. A double wall oven can have up to 2x the capacity than a traditional range. So if you are a socialite who loves to entertain snazzy dinner parties, the first to offer to host Holiday gatherings, or part of a large family, a wall oven may be the best option for your lifestyle. Otherwise, there is really no need to change your entire kitchen layout to accommodate a double wall oven if the single oven found in a range will suffice your cooking needs. Ergonomics Unlike a conventional range that is at the same level of lower cabinets, a wall oven is located at eye level. Many people find it easier to put in heavy dishes and take out hot foods from a wall oven since there is no bending, kneeling, or crouching involved. With that said, some do find it difficult to reach over a hot door to access their dishes. In that case, a side-opening door or french door oven is a good solution since it keeps the doors out of the way so you can easily reach-in. Cost When you opt for a wall oven you will also need to purchase a cooktop. So instead of buying one appliance as you would for a range, you now need to buy two appliances. Wall ovens also tend to be more expensive than their range counterpart. However, when you love to bake and want to go full-out on an oven but don’t really need a high-end cooktop, you can then save a little money going for a cheaper cooktop. Come in today to explore our large selection of ranges and wall ovens and discover which features you will benefit the most from.
