Growing up in a small town in Iowa, I was immersed in the remodeling industry from an early age. At just 12 years old, I started working at a local hardware store, fostering a deep connection with the field that would shape my career. My father eventually launched his own remodeling company, where I took on a significant role, specializing in finished carpentry and tile work, and actively participating in house flipping projects. This hands-on experience continued through college, where I earned a degree in psychology with a focus on industrial-organizational psychology. This unique background has profoundly influenced my approach to kitchen and bath design, allowing me to understand and optimize how people use their spaces.
My Midwest roots provide a solid foundation in classic, functional design, while my extensive research and experience on the East Coast have equipped me with a keen understanding of current and emerging trends. I pride myself on staying ahead of the curve, blending timeless design elements with forward-thinking aesthetics. Watching HGTV might have been my homework, but I also dedicate significant time to researching online, ensuring my designs are both stylish and functional.
Functionality is at the heart of my design philosophy. I strive to create spaces that not only look stunning but also enhance the daily lives of my clients. I believe that balance and symmetry are crucial, and I work closely with clients to understand their unique needs and preferences. Whether it's maximizing space in a small kitchen with custom cabinetry or ensuring that every item has its place, my goal is to make the kitchen as efficient and enjoyable as possible.
One of my passions is working with small kitchens, where every square inch counts. For example, I often find creative solutions like fitting a 32-inch sink into a 32 5/8-inch cabinet, which frees up valuable space for surrounding cabinetry. By tailoring these solutions to each client’s specific storage needs, I can significantly enhance the functionality of their kitchen.
What truly sets me apart is my genuine love for design and my commitment to understanding my clients. I relish the challenge of meeting each individual's unique needs, whether it's accommodating a growing family or creating a dream kitchen that balances personal style with practicality. My background in psychology helps me connect with clients on a deeper level, ensuring that their kitchen and bath spaces are not only beautiful but also perfectly suited to their lifestyle.
