The ASKO story is a good one. It started back in 1950 in Vara, Sweden with an innovative young man’s dream to build a washing machine for his mother to suit her every need. A unique, energy and water efficient machine that would reflect a farmer’s love for nature. One with superior cleaning performance and reliability that could heat water, spin and even boast with durable and stainless drums. The results were so extraordinary, he built a world-class engineering and manufacturing facility right on the family farm, where it still stands today 60 years later.
How do you build durability? It’s quite simple. There are no secrets – just smart solutions and far better materials. This is obvious to anybody who takes a closer look at ASKO’s dishwashers, washers, and dryers. Many of the solutions and materials that make ASKO last longer are hidden deep inside the machines. For example, ASKO uses steel instead of plastic and every detail right down to the component level is tested to last for at least 20 years. ASKO machines meet the highest demands for design, function, durability as well as environmental awareness.
COVID-19 impact on manufacturing
Appliance factories in the USA are dealing with a variety of pandemic related issues. Challenges include worker quarantines, part supplier delays, slowdowns from routine cleanings and occasionally, weeks of factory closures. Social distancing also limits how many people can work on the same assembly line, decreasing productivity. Beyond that, staffing is reduced due to some workers need to stay at home as daycare centers are closed. These challenges are unlike anything we’ve ever seen in our industry.
Priority shipping, same as the big box stores
Some customers are fooled into thinking that the home centers get product faster than a local retailers like Bray & Scarff. That’s simply false. Bray & Scarff has priority status from all our vendors. We place truckload orders for items from the factory just like the box stores. Custom order items like wall ovens and cooktops are much faster from an independent like us. Most built-in appliances ship to us in 3-5 days. The large retailers can’t match our speed.
