We purchased this fridge 2.5 years along with other KA appliances for our kitchen remodel. We are only happy with our cooktop (KGCU467VSS) and hood (KXW8736YSS 1200cfm). The fridge, dishwasher (KUDE40FXSS), and double oven (KEBS207BSS) we are not happy with. So about the fridge. Within the first year we had the ice maker replaced twice. It was making ice very slowly or not at all. It would freeze up and not produce ice. After the 1 year warranty was up the ice maker continued to have problems. When "max ice" was selected it would/still does freeze up and not produce ice. It still dispenses ice poorly and very slow. But the main reason for the review is that today it stopped getting cold. Luckily I have a basement fridge and deep freezer so I wont have to throw away any food. We have had this fridge for 2.5 years and with normal use it stopped getting cold. For the price of this appliance you should get more than 2.5 years of use out of it before parts need to be replaced. I am not the type of person to write a review but this is really aggravating and want others to know to stay away. Shame on me for not doing better research. There are much better appliances out there for same price if not cheaper.

We bought this unit 2 years ago, I regret every minute. Not only does the ice in the icemaker shoot all over the place when dispensing, it also is constantly getting "stuck". I bought an extended plan with the unit and have had to use it several times in 2 years. I am getting the icemaker changed out again, a loud noise this time. The shelves in the refrigerator are corroding, due to "air", unknown reason, tech didn't know, so he is replacing the gasket. Mold has appeared around the light on the side, another reason for replacing gasket

I am reviewing the KitchenAid Side by Side refrigerator Model #KSC23C8EYY. I purchased it in June of 2013 and now, in September of 2016, I am in the midst of my FOURTH repair episode. The first one occurred just three months after purchasing, and it took several visits for a repairman to find and replace the cracked water line. The second episode, 11 months after purchasing, resulted in the icemaker and water valve being replaced. After owning the unit for a year and a half, the freezer stopped operating and it was determined that the control board had to be replaced. Now, two years after that, again, cooling has ceased. This time I've been told it's the compressor that needs to be replaced. It took KitchenAid's authorized service six days to come to my apartment and it will be another 3-7 days before the compressor is replaced. I've thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of food, again, and am again faced with living for two weeks without refrigeration. This appliance is 3.5 years old and it has given me nothing but grief.

I have last year's version of this refrigerator, purchased in January 2015. Only 19 months old, and it died, needing three major parts which still have not arrived in almost two weeks. Not a good experience, and I would not purchase Kitchen Aid again.
