New Maytoag Dryer

This dryer is large capacity and easy to use. I bought it to match with the Maytag washer. Both the dryer and washer are larger than we measured to fit in our small laundry room. It is now too difficult for me and my daughter to reach the cabinet above the machines due to large depth of the machines. I should have been leery of all the "bells & whistles" on these machines and purchased the old design machines like I had.

I have had the worst experience with this dryer of any appliance I ever purchased. I have propane at my home that required a propane installation kit, which I purchased and had available for delivery and install. When the dryer arrived I gave the guy the kit to install. He hooked up the dryer, tested it and left stating it worked. Wrong! Upon the first use it displayed error codes, smelled like it was burning up and stopped working. It turned out he did not put the converter kit on and left me with big flames shooting up the back of the dryer. I called Maytag to discover that the delivery company doesn’t even install propane dryers. I don’t know why the delivery company didn’t tell me this when I explicitly told them it was propane and handed them the conversion kit. I had to wait for service to come install the conversion kit. The repair man did that and told me now it was working. It did not, same exact symptoms and error codes. By he way I had to pay for this and then wait for reimbursement. I called Maytag again scheduled more service. Service came replaced some parts still doesn’t work. Repeat three more times. So after 7 weeks they finally agree to exchange the dryer. I figured the initial installation without the propane conversion had fried the electronics in the dryer so I was feeling good about a replacement. I had it hooked up properly this time, it was a hassle to have to schedule a service appointment after delivery and get reimbursed but ok. I just want a working dryer. Unfortunately the replacement dryer has all the same problems as the first. Many more phone calls to Maytag, service appointments, and trips to the laundromat occur. Finally after over 3 months of not having a working dryer in my house they agree to buy back the unit. The only good thing is they also agreed to buy back the washer since I bought them together as a matched pair. They do not give back the money I paid for delivery and setup which leaves me in the hole by about $200 plus time and money spent on service calls and the laundromat. I have to give all 1 stars since I didn’t ever get to use the dryer even though I had one for over 3 months. It did hold a lot of wet clothes though! I am now looking for a different brand to buy. I won’t buy any Maytag appliance again after this horrible experience with the product and service.
