Although shopping for a dishwasher may seem like a pretty standard process, it can come with many decisions to be made with so many options to choose from. Just like shopping for a car, you’ll soon find most dishwasher manufacturers offer a variety of appliances at different “trim” levels or different features. Do you go with the quieter dishwasher or the one with the most wash cycles? How about flexible storage - is that important? Many dishwashers can look similar in appearance but be priced differently. Just like the KitchenAid 404s models compared to the KitchenAid 604 models. They both look the same from the outside and appear to have most of the same features. So what is so different? First, let’s review about what’s so similar.
What's The Same
The KitchenAid 404 and 604 models both feature a FreeFlex™ Third Rack so you can maximize on space and flexibility. The angled design allows you to fit plenty of glasses, mugs, and bowls up to 6 inches in height, as well as plenty of your cooking utensils. Both of these models use an Advanced Clean Water System that continually removes food particles from the water during the wash and rinse cycle so you can wash both your dirty cookware and delicate glassware in the same cycle. They even have a Sani-Rinse option that eliminates 99.99% of food soil bacteria. They also have a PrintSheild™ Finish to resist fingerprints and smudges so they’ll remain looking stunning. With a 44dBa rating, these dishwashers will both operate silently enough for you to run them without interrupting your dinner party. They both feature SatinGlide® rails in the third and middle racks, an adjustable middle rack to make room for larger pots and pans, and the ProWash™ Cycle that uses sensors to measure soil levels for an automatic custom wash. They also have a durable stainless steel interior and an Express Wash System.
What's The Difference
One difference between these two KitchenAid models is detectable from the front. On the 404, you’ll notice there’s a small slit on the top left above the handle which does not exist on the 604. That is because these dishwashers use a different system for drying the dishes. The 404 uses heated water and hot air to dry dishes while the 604 uses a fan-enabled ProDry System which combines a heating element and a fan. Another difference is the delay times. The 404 offers 2- 4-8 hour delays while the 604 offers 1-24 hour delays. Lastly, the 404 only has 2 stemware holders in the middle rack while the 604 has 4 stemware holders.
Both KitchenAid models are excellent options for your next dishwasher and are sure to satisfy your every washing need. Shop the 404 and 604 models here:
