French Door Refrigerators: GNE29GYNFS Vs. PWE23KYNFS

Posted on Feb 2nd, 2021

The French door refrigerator continues to be a coveted refrigerator style amongst today’s homeowner thanks to its sleek appearance and functional design. By placing the freezer at the bottom, these refrigerators place your most used items at eye-level so they’re easier to access. With the 2-door design, you can actually save energy by opening just half the refrigerator at one time to access your items which releases less cool air, as opposed to opening the entire fridge and requiring the fridge to work even harder.

Additionally, the bottom freezer drawer-style makes it easier to organize all your frozen items so they’re less likely to get lost and go bad. However, thanks to their trending popularity, there are many different options to choose from. Even amongst GE there are similar models, such as the GE Appliances 28.7 Cu. Ft. French-Door Refrigerator (GNE29GYNFS) and the GE Profile® 23.1 Cu. Ft. French-Door Refrigerator (PWE23KYNFS). Looking through online images, these two models could practically be the same fridge. So what makes these two fridges different? Let’s explore.

These GE refrigerators offer GE Appliances’ patented technology to keep your foods at their optimal temperatures. Twin Chills® evaporators use individual evaporators to create separate climates in the fresh food and freezer areas to keep foods fresher for longer. Both refrigerators offer advanced water filtration with RPWFE replacement filters to reduce trace pharmaceuticals from water and ice and include a factory-installed icemaker. They also include split and full-width adjustable glass shelves with Spill-Proof design to prevent a larger mess and cross-contamination, as well as gallon-sized door storage. It’s easy to keep either fridge looking stunning thanks to their fingerprint-resistant finish. Finally, easily view your items in either refrigerator with LED interior lighting. .

A few obvious differences lie in their name. The GE Appliances touts a robust 28.7 cubic feet at around 36-inches wide, your standard full-size refrigerator size, whereas the GE Profile® model states just 23.1 cubic feet and a width at around 31-inches wide. What may seem surprising, the smaller-sized GE Profile® model carries a higher price tag. However, this is because the GE Profile® model is counter-depth and delivers more features than its GE Appliances counterpart. It’s counter-depth profile means it features a similar depth to your kitchen’s lower cabinets for a flush, built-in appearance. It’s smaller size means it can also fit into tighter spaces, ideal for smaller kitchens. The GE Profile® refrigerator features an internal water dispenser, full-width electronic temperature-controlled drawers with LED lights, silver trim on the shelves, a dairy compartment and drop down tray, and optional WiFi Connect. It’s 23.1 cubic feet still delivers plenty of room for a family of 4. If the slimmer style and features appeal to you, the GE Profile® is an excellent option for your kitchen. If a larger, full-size refrigerator fits in your kitchen and you don’t need those extras, the GE Appliances is the perfect option for you.
