Maximize Storage With Kitchen Drawers

Posted on July 21st, 2020

Is there anything better than a well-organized kitchen? But because it’s also the busiest room in the house, it’s one of the hardest to keep tidy. It isn’t nearly as important how small or large your kitchen is if it doesn’t function well. Deep, dark lower cabinets make it difficult to find the items you need throughout the day. Additionally, the type of physical action it takes to reach and pull something out can cause back strain.

Better Storage

The standard base cabinet depth is 24 inches. Take a minute to think about how many items in the kitchen are 24 inches wide. There aren’t many which means you will need at least 2 rows of items in your lower cabinets in order to maximize your available space. Add in the fact that your lower cabinets are already very dark, the front row or items will block out more light to the back row, making it even more difficult to find your items. Plus items in the front will make it even harder to reach your items in the back. Cabinet drawers solve this problem by bringing your items to you. Whether you store your mixing bowls in the front row or back row of your cabinets won’t matter when you can access them both the same.

Thoughtful Storage

Kitchen drawers also offer the option for purposeful storage. There are so many options of types of drawers that each one can be customized exactly for your needs. Whether you’re storing heavy pots, small appliances, Tupperware or utensils, you can have a dedicated drawer for exactly what you need so your kitchen feels tailor-made for how you actually use it.

Shine A Little Light

As we mentioned before, lower cabinets are deep and dark, making it difficult to find what you need. There is nothing like cooking up some tacos and not being able to find your cheese grater. Instead of squinting your eyes into the dark abyss of your lower cabinets or having to use a flashlight, kitchen drawers bring your items into the light so you can see its contents instantly (and without dirtying up your phone’s flashlight).

Reduce Back Strain

Bending over and reaching is not the proper lifting form and is suddenly maximized when you can’t find what you need immediately. Simply grabbing a pan to saute some onions can require reaching around other large items, awkwardly trying to lift a cast iron pan with your arms stretched out, getting it stuck on the items in front, and then suddenly you’re in positions you haven’t been in since you were playing Twister as a kid. Kitchen drawers allow you simply pull out a drawer, see your item instantly, and use proper lifting techniques without all the drama.
