Microwave Convection Ovens: GE Profile ™ 1.7 Cu. Ft. vs. KitchenAid 1.9 Cu. Ft. Oven

Posted on June 10th, 2021

One thing we love about today’s kitchen advancements is the ability to compact incredible features and cooking technologies into small spaces. The first appliance that comes to mind when we think compact is the microwave oven. Instead of just heating up last night’s leftovers, today’s microwave does so much more. This nifty little appliance is packed with lots of abilities, including hood ventilation and convection oven. How can one appliance do so much? It’s no wonder we get many inquiries about which microwave oven is best. Today we compare two popular models, the GE Profile 1.7 cubic ft microwave oven and the KitchenAid 1.9 cubic ft microwave oven.

What's The Same?
These two models come from different manufacturers so there are some differences but also some similarities. For one, both microwaves are 30-inches wide and feature a black and stainless steel exterior. They also feature a stainless steel interior to help with retaining heat and making spills and splatters easy to clean. Both microwaves have an electronic touchpad, although the GE Profile™ is on the right while the KitchenAid® model is near the bottom. They also feature convection cooking technology to deliver fast oven-quality results. This modern technology uses a fan to evenly circulate hot air around your dishes for perfect doneness. Both microwaves feature a rack so you can elevate your food items so air can evenly thaw and cook your foods. Although their capacity is slightly different, they are very similar in functionality and how large of dishes they can handle. Lastly, both models are over-the-range and double as a ventilation system.

What's Different?
Similar in size, appearances, and technologies, the main differences between the GE Profile™ and KitchenAid® microwave are in features. For starters, the GE Profile™ microwave has a My Cycle custom cook time setting so you can cook your favorite dish the way you like it, a sensor cooking control that automatically adjusts time and power for amazing results, and a charcoal filter replacement. Additionally, it features Chef Connect that allows you to automatically sync clocks and range elements with the microwave's surface light and vent. The KitchenAid® has a sensor that triggers a cycle to precisely steam food based on type and selected doneness, plus a steam cleaning feature to easily wipe away messes. The GE Profile™ features a 3-speed 300-CFM ventilation system while the KitchenAid® model has 6-speed 400-CFM system.
