Thermador Column vs Sub-Zero Column

Here we compare two popular brands known for specializing in column refrigeration; Thermador and Sub-Zero.

Thermador

Thermador is a premium appliance brand owned by the BSH Corporation. It is primarily known for manufacturing professional-style ranges. Thermador was one of the first companies to introduce column refrigeration in the US and have since upgraded their products with new bins, a new touchscreen display, and a push-to-open door. Manufactured in Turkey, the Thermador column refrigerators feature half-gallon bins on the door for additional fresh food space. Door shelves and produce bins can be adjusted to any level on the door for flexibility. The Open Door Assist allows the door to open with a gentle push to the panel to avoid spreading potential bacteria while handling raw meats, etc. Its crisper drawers have humidity control to give your produce the ideal conditions and the Super Cool features lets you temporarily reduce temperatures to cool foods quickly. Other highlights include LED internal theater lighting, soft-close doors and drawers, and TFT touch controls to regulate temperature. These column refrigerators come with an option for filtered external ice/water dispenser on 18’’ and 24’’ freezer columns.

Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero was the original industry pioneer for built-in refrigerators nearly fifty years ago. They actually manufactured the first column but at an odd 27-inch size. They still have the best seal compared to other refrigerators so air cannot infiltrate the unit to spoil food. Its air scrubber “scrubs” the ethylene gas off spoiling foods and eliminates cross-contamination so your foods stay fresher for longer. Made in the US, Sub-Zero column refrigerators accept stainless steel or custom panels for its full height door, offering true cabinet integration without exposed venting grilles. These units feature dual compressors and an evaporator to create ultimate food preservation conditions, low temperature and high humidity controlled storage crispers, and a double freezer drawer for optimal organization. SImilar to the Thermador units, these refrigerators have an air purification system that scrubs the air of ethylene to keep food fresher for longer. Other features include crystal interior with Nano-coated spill-proof shelving, soft-close doors and drawers, and soft-on LED lighting gradually illuminates refrigerator interior. Sub-Zero column refrigerators feature a smart-touch control panel for user-friendly precise temperature management.
