What's The Difference Between GE Appliances and GE Profile

Posted on August 15th, 2022

For over 100 years, GE has electrified and modernized life, bringing both convenience and fun to your kitchen and home. GE Appliances has a long legacy of industry-leading innovation, from the first residential refrigerator to the first full suite of WiFi-connected appliances. Born from the creative spirit of America's great inventor, GE Appliances always asks the question "What if?" to create a better way. Not only does GE make innovative appliances, it is absolutely committed to serving customers and communities.

GE has been a household name in America ever since the conception of Thomas Edison’s lightbulb. Now as a multi-billion dollar company, it is easily the most recognized name in the appliance industry, from its large selection of kitchen appliances and washers and dryers to water heaters and residential air conditioners.

Although GE has carried a variety of collections for some time now, it wasn’t until its recent acquisition by Haier that it started really branching out its different collections and transforming each one into its own brand. GE Café became Café Appliances to deliver customizable appliances that could be considered high-end without quite the high-end cost. GE Monogram became Monogram to distinguish itself as a luxury brand. Now only two collections remain; GE Appliances and GE Profile.

These two lines have historically been grouped together. Whereas GE Café has been able to branch out into Café Appliances, GE Profile hasn’t quite made that distinction from GE Appliances (though we wait impatiently for its rebranded arrival into just “Profile”). Therefore, it can be difficult to easily recognize the difference between the two collections, but believe us, they’re there.

In general, GE Appliances is considered the entry-level line, delivering affordable and basic products for the no-fuss home at a more affordable price point. A homeowner with a smaller budget could purchase a 4-piece GE Appliance kitchen package from Bray & Scarff for under $4900 (we do offer the best pricing, after all!). Just because these appliances are more affordable and basic than other GE brands doesn’t mean they skimped out on the details. It offers all the latest in fingerprint-resistant finishes, including stainless steel, Slate, and Black Slate, and features the latest style and design. In contrast, GE Profile appliances are designed to look more sleek and modern and are generally more expensive. They are a step above the entry-level GE Appliances and carry more technology updates, such as WiFi Connect, and the extra features to simplify your life, such as Hands-Free AutoFill and so much more. We offer a stainless steel 4-piece GE Profile kitchen package for under $7300 to take your kitchen to the next level. You can also choose from a variety of fingerprint-resistant finishes, such as stainless steel, Slate, Black Slate.
