GE Profile 30" Built-In Cooktop Vs Monogram 30" Deep Recessed Cooktop

Posted on March 11th, 2021

When it comes to choosing a new gas cooktop, it can be difficult to decipher the differences between certain models, even when looking at various companies. Case in point, we were recently asked by a customer the differences between the GE Profile ™ 30” Built-In Tri-Ring Gas Cooktop and the Monogram 30” Deep-Recessed Gas Cooktop. Aside from the different aesthetic styling of the grates, the performance of both of these quality cooktops is quite similar.

What's The Same?
The GE Profile ™ 30” Built-In Tri-Ring Gas Cooktop and the Monogram 30” Deep-Recessed Gas Cooktop both feature 5 burners, ranging from 5,000 BTU up to 20,000 BTU heating capabilities and precise simmering capabilities for gentle heat. Each cooktop has a tri-ring power boil feature on their center burner (Monogram’s is slightly higher at 20,000 BTU vs. Profile’s 18,000 BTU output) allowing for water to reach boiling point in less than 3 minutes. Though different in aesthetic design, these cooktops feature edge-to-edge grates allowing for simple movement of cookware across the surface and each comes with an optional integrated cast-iron griddle allowing for maximum cook space. The precision knobs feature backlighting (White LED for GE Profile and embedded sapphire glass for Monogram) that not only look sleek, but also indicate from a distance when burners are turned on.

What's Different?
The main differences we found between these two cooktops came down to two features and warranty length. The GE Profile ™ 30” Built-In Tri-Ring Gas Cooktop offers a control lock capability, to protect against unintended activation from little fingers or accidental bumping. As well, the GE Profile cooktop grates are dishwasher safe and safe in the oven during the self clean cycle, making for painless cleanup of difficult messes. GE offers a Limited 1 year entire appliance warranty, whereas Monogram offers double the time with a Limited 2 year entire appliance warranty.

Where it counts in performance, we find both of these cooktops to be indistinguishable. If easy cleanup and control locks are important, The GE Profile ™ 30” Built-In Tri-Ring Gas Cooktop is the ideal fit for you. Whereas, if an appliance warranty is a priority then the Monogram 30” Deep-Recessed Gas Cooktop is going to be your best fit. Whichever you choose, Bray & Scarff offer basic installation as well as removal/recycling of your old unit for under $200 so replacing your old kitchen appliance is a seamless process.
