With Spring and nice weather upon us, people are moving outdoors and having backyard BBQs. Many people focus on remodeling their deck and yard, but why not add an outdoor kitchen as well? An outdoor kitchen allows you to avoid the constant rushing that comes with outdoor cooking. You know what I’m talking about, always running back and forth between the grill and kitchen grabbing plates, seasonings, forks, that one knife, the drinks -- it feels endless!
Now imagine having an outdoor kitchen that is carefully crafted to meet your every outdoor need. Having everything in one area can create a clutterless space and allow you to focus on cooking and enjoying the outdoors. Here are a couple of simple questions to ask yourself while planning your perfect outdoor kitchen:
How much time will you spend outside? Answering this question, will help you determine what size of a kitchen design will best suit your needs. If you live in warm, mild climate and spend most evenings on your deck, a spacious, fancier kitchen with a fridge, warming drawer and etc. may be a worthwhile investment. If you live in a colder climate, where time spent outdoors is enjoyed a few months of the year, a well-crafted smaller kitchen may be the sensible option.
Do you have enough room for the smoke from your grill to be ventilated? Smoke from the grill can easily consume your entire workspace. If your kitchen is in a covered area, then adding some form of ceiling ventilation is important.
Do you want an enclosed or open kitchen? An enclosed kitchen allows you to cook in a smaller space and keep things confined, while an open space allows guests to mingle with you while you cook.
