Attention to detail can make a great kitchen even better. Whether it's something simple like adding a splash of color or far more unique such as a brass toe-kick, the details give you a chance to express your personal taste and captivate your guests.

Every kitchen has cabinets, countertops, and appliances but not every kitchen has you. Adding that extra flare makes a kitchen feel more complete and thoughtful. Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference after all. The best part is adding details doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. Below are some simple, basic ways you can add detail that are guaranteed to give your kitchen that extra "zing," though we encourage everyone to go even further in adding that wow-factor (hello zebra-striped cabinets! Aaaand goodbye zebra-striped cabinets, maybe that was not such a hot idea).

Pops of Color White kitchens make kitchens crisp and clean while neutral colors make them versatile. However, too much neutrality can make a kitchen seem monotonous or bland. Liven up your space and add depth with some splashes of color. You can add color with painted or stained cabinetry, a tiled backsplash, two-toned cabinetry, and less-permanent fixtures like canisters, chairs, dish towels, and so on.

Mix & Match Even the best materials in the world won't save you from an overly matchy-matchy kitchen. Just like an outfit, it's all about coordination. Rooms that coordinate have various textures, materials, and tones that work together and appear balanced and cohesive. It also helps  your individual taste. Use a different island countertop material, two-toned cabinetry between the upper and lower cabinets or the island, glass doors on cabinets, a patterned backsplash, and so on. Create a sense of harmony by picking a theme to repeat. You'll be able to achieve a look you love as long as you combine materials that feel right to you!

Embellishments Kitchen embellishments add elegancy and refinement and give your kitchen an overall custom look. Complete the look of your cabinet design and feel of your kitchen with crown molding above and corbels below. You can compliment your island and/or kitchen cabinets with decorative legs and feet (and then telling it how nice it looks).

Glass Door Fronts One of the best ways to break up conformity is by adding some glass cabinet doors to your cabinets. There are lots of option to choose from including bevel, antique, opaque, frosted, hammered, cross-reeded, and even cocoa rice paper (now you HAVE to check it out). Glass doors not only look beautiful, they give you an opportunity to display your favorite dishware or decorative piece to add a touch of your personality.

Wood Paneling Today's wood paneling is not your typical dark, doom-and-gloom paneling from the 1960s. Instead it is sophisticated and chic, adding a custom architectural design to your plain kitchen walls. Paneling also creates vastly different moods. Masculine or feminine, sleek or rugged, modern or traditional, the list goes on. It is also surprisingly affordable, super easy to install, and leaves a lasting impact. Beadboard, wainscoting, boiserie, and the recently popular shiplap, there is a different kind of paneling for every kitchen!
